An afternoon with Tony Carroll in 70 Seconds.
Tony, born in March 1957 grew up with horses. He would arrive home from school then straight out to the gallops where the stable lads occasionally let him ride the horses back. After leaving school he was offered the position of stable jockey with Pat Taylor whom he stayed with for 6 years. Then he moved on to Stan Mellor MBE for 6 years before turning free lance. Over the years he rode many winners, 254 in fact, including the famous Tip The Wink & Royal Mail.
Tony turned trainer and ran a stables at Inkberrow for ten years. Demand for his services grew so he moved to larger premises at Wixford where he stayed for six years and finally moved to his current, purpose built, premises at Cropthorn in 2006. In 2006 Tony had 49 winners, not bad for a stable that averaged 49 horses housed.
Updated Jan 2012. During 2011 Mill House Stables had 70 winners & 138 placed! Quite of few of those placed were very close seconds. Going from strength to strength!

Perseveres with his heart,
And wins with his character."
